Cover Limits
Medical expenses cover normally carries a sum insured of £1,000,000 – £10,000,000. This is often reduced to around £2,000 for UK holidays.
The personal liability section covers legal liability for injury to third parties or damage to their property, with a typical indemnity limit of £1,000,000 – £5,000,000.
Delays are normally subject to a minimum amount of 12 hours to justify a claim under the delayed baggage and travel delay section of the travel policy.
A benefit of £10,000 to £50,000 usually applies for death, loss of eyes or limbs, or permanent total disablement.

Extra Covers
The ‘pet care’ extension can be added to a travel insurance policy, providing a benefit for each 24 hours that a cat or dog receives in-patient veterinary treatment as a result of suffering an injury whilst being cared for whilst the insured is on holiday. Typical benefits are up to £25 per day, subject to a maximum of £250.
Whether it’s single trip, multi-trip or annual cover, a typical Travel Insurance policy from Weir can include cover for:
- Cancellation
- Lost or stolen baggage
- Personal liability
- Legal expenses
- Medical expenses
- Missed departure
- Curtailment
- Sports and adventure cover
